The big fireworks display nearest Staines this year is at Kempton Park Racecourse in Sunbury-on-Thames on Saturday 7 November 2026. Gates open at 5pm, last entry is 7pm, the fireworks start at 7.30pm and the funfair closes at 10pm. Advance tickets are £10. Bonfire Night itself falls on Thursday 5 November.

Is it on this year? Yes, and here is how to check

The Kempton fireworks page has one trap worth knowing about, because it is the reason people keep asking whether the event is still running. The browser tab still reads “Kempton Park Fireworks | 1 Nov 2025”, the stale title left over from last year. The date printed on the page itself, above the Buy Tickets button, reads Saturday 7 November 2026. Trust the page, not the tab.

The Jockey Club also lists the event under Kempton’s other events, alongside the Sunbury Antiques Market and the racing fixtures, so it is in the racecourse’s published programme rather than a leftover page.

Kempton Park fireworks 2026: the confirmed details

The racecourse describes the evening as a fireworks show plus a funfair with rides, children’s activities, food and drink stalls and a DJ. It bills the display as the biggest in outer London.

Two rules catch families out. Anyone under 18 must be with a paying responsible adult aged 21 or over, or their parent, and one adult can bring a maximum of three under-18s. Under-16s have to stay with that adult all evening.

You also cannot bring your own food, drink, sparklers, fireworks, flares or folding chairs. The racecourse says those items will be confiscated on the gate and may not be returned. The whole site runs cashless, so card only, except with the on-course bookmakers on race days.

If the display is cancelled outright, the racecourse says it refunds the face value of every ticket. It makes no such promise for a delay: it warns that firework timings move with the weather.

Getting there from Staines without driving

The racecourse’s own advice is to drive, and parking is free on race days, signposted from the approach roads. Blue Badge holders can use designated bays via Gate 1 in Park Road, and Kempton Park sits outside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, so there is no ULEZ charge from Staines.

If you would rather not sit in the queue off the A308, the 290 bus runs past the racecourse and stops on Staines Road East, and it runs seven days a week. National Rail’s own onward travel poster for Kempton Park Racecourse station lists Staines, Knowle Green, Ashford, Ashford Common, Hampton Hill, Strawberry Hill and Twickenham as the destinations served by the 290 from that stop.

Kempton Park station itself is inside the racecourse car park, a short walk from the North Entrance, but its train service is built around race meetings rather than evening events, so check the departure boards for 7 November before you plan around it. There is no taxi rank and no cab office at the station.

What else is on locally

Spelthorne Borough Council does not run a fireworks display. Its events pages cover hiring parks and applying for licences rather than putting on shows, so there is no borough display to look for.

Staines and Laleham Sports Association at Worple Road, TW18 1HR has run an annual fireworks display, promoted through its Facebook page. Its own website, salsal.co.uk, listed no fireworks event when we checked on 5 September 2026, and we have not been able to verify a 2026 date, time or price from the club itself. We will add it here when the club publishes one.

Nothing else in Spelthorne had announced a public display by 5 September. That is normal: most local organisers put dates out in late September and early October. This page will be updated as they do.

Bonfires in your own garden

Spelthorne’s position is blunter than most people expect. Its bonfires page says there are no byelaws forbidding residents from having a bonfire, then says the council “strongly advises against” them. Repeated bonfires can amount to a statutory nuisance or anti-social behaviour, and burning commercial or builders’ waste is illegal outright.

If you have one anyway, the council asks you to warn every surrounding neighbour first so they can shut windows and get the washing in, and it is explicit that warning them does not protect you from nuisance action. Household rubbish, plastics, tyres and damp plant matter should not go on a bonfire at all.
