Halloween is Saturday 31 October: a free disco and pumpkin carving on Staines High Street, 11am to 3pm, plus pumpkin patches from £7.50 and Fright Nights.

Halloween 2026 is Saturday 31 October, the last Saturday of Spelthorne’s two-week half term (19 to 30 October). The one free Halloween event in Staines itself is Staines Market’s disco and pumpkin carving on the High Street that day, 11am to 3pm. For pumpkin picking you have to leave the borough: the nearest patch is Hobbledown Heath on Staines Road in Hounslow. Everything below comes from the organisers’ own pages, checked on 3 October.

The quick answer

  • Free, in town: Staines Market’s Halloween disco and pumpkin carving, Saturday 31 October, 11am to 3pm, High Street.
  • Nearest pumpkin patch: Hobbledown Heath, Staines Road, Hounslow, open to 1 November, £7.50 to £9.50 by date. Evening Pumpkin Nights from £12.
  • Pick from the field: Crockford Bridge Farm, Addlestone, but only until 18 October. It closes its fields before half term.
  • For teenagers: Thorpe Park Fright Nights, every day 15 October to 1 November, from £39, scare attractions 13 and over.
  • For small children: the Frankenstein train at Hanworth on 31 October and 1 November, £4.50 a child.

Staines Market Halloween disco

Staines Market runs its Halloween day on Saturday 31 October 2026 from 11am to 3pm on the High Street. The market lists pumpkin carving, a spooky children’s themed disco and “plenty of fun activities”, and warns it will be messy. It is free: the market says all its events are (Visit Staines, Staines Market Halloween Disco). The listing gives no booking link, so turn up.

In 2024 Staines Market and the council ran a similar free Halloween day in half term. This year it lands on Halloween itself, which makes it an easy start to the day if you are trick-or-treating in the evening.

Hobbledown Heath pumpkin patch

Hobbledown Heath’s patch, which it bills as London’s most magical, is the closest to Staines: on Staines Road, Hounslow, in a meadow by the River Crane, a five-minute woodland walk from the main car park. Use TW14 0HH in a sat nav; the car park turning is opposite Ron Smith Recycling (Hobbledown Heath, getting here).

  • Dates: 25 September to 1 November 2026. Before half term it opens on 9, 10, 11 and 15 to 18 October, then every day from 19 October to 1 November. Hours are 11am to 6pm on most days, 10am to 8pm from 24 to 30 October, 11am to 6pm on Halloween itself and 11am to 5pm on 1 November.
  • Pumpkin Days, £7.50 to £9.50 a person: entry to the patch, seasonal games, photo points, marshmallow toasting and live entertainment. Hobbledown prices by date: £7.50 on quieter days, £8.50 on busier ones and £9.50 on peak half-term dates. Ages 1 to 2 from £3.75. The ticket panel’s headline says “from £7”.
  • Pumpkin Nights, from £12 a person: evening entry, 6pm to 8pm, with lanterns and live acts, on 16, 17 and 18 October and every night from 23 to 30 October. There is no evening session on 31 October.
  • Patch + Park, from £20 a person: the patch plus a full day at the Hobbledown Heath adventure park and its indoor playbarn.
  • Under-1s go free, there is a £2.75 booking fee per booking, and pumpkins are paid for separately.
  • Dogs only on Fridays 2 and 9 October and Thursday 15 October, £2.50 a dog, daytime only.

(Hobbledown Heath Pumpkin Patch, including its FAQ)

Parking is on site at £1.25 an hour, run by a separate company, and Hobbledown Heath is inside the ULEZ, unlike everything in Spelthorne. By bus, the 117 and 235 stop outside; the nearest stations are Feltham and Hounslow.

Crockford Bridge Farm, Addlestone

The farm on New Haw Road, Addlestone, KT15 2BU, runs two separate events, and the difference matters (Crockford Bridge Farm).

Pumpkin Picking Experience, 3 to 18 October only. You pick straight from the growing fields. Entry is £7.50 plus a booking fee, advance booking only, for everyone over 1; pumpkins are paid for at the exit. The farm stops field picking before the end of October to protect the crop from frost, so if you want to pick your own, go before half term starts. Parking in the field car park is free, there are no dogs and no buggies in the fields, and you need your own bags. Street food on weekends (Crockford Bridge Farm, pumpkin picking).

Wonderland Pumpkin Festival, Saturday 24 to Saturday 31 October. A two-hour theatrical Alice in Wonderland adventure with actors and circus performers, Crazy Croquet, a pumpkin hunt and vintage fairground games, ending in a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with a DJ. Three sessions a day: 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm. Tickets are £14 plus booking fee for adults and children alike, best for ages 4 and up, non-refundable and not sold on the door (Crockford Bridge Farm, Pumpkin Festival).

If you only want a pumpkin, the farm’s Pumpkin Boutique sells pre-picked ones from Tuesday 20 to Saturday 31 October, 10am to 5pm, with no booking.

Garsons Pumpkin Parade, Esher

Further out, Garson Farm at Winterdown Road, Esher, KT10 8LS, has a circus-themed Pumpkin Parade through October. Tickets are £6.50 to £8 a person depending on the date, for everyone aged 2 and over, with a family discount on four or more. They are online only, entry only (pumpkins are extra), and Garsons says availability is best on weekdays from 5 to 16 October. The farm closes at 5pm (Garsons, Pumpkin Parade tickets).

Thorpe Park Fright Nights

Thorpe Park’s Fright Nights: 25 Years of Fear runs on 2 to 4 and 9 to 11 October, then every day from 15 October to 1 November, so it covers all of half term. Tickets start at £39 a person. This year’s new scare maze is called Tenement, and the park recommends its scare attractions for ages 13 and up (Thorpe Park, Fright Nights).

The park is on Staines Road, Chertsey, KT16 8PN. Without a car, the 950 Express bus runs from Staines station to the park every 15 to 20 minutes; Oyster cards are not accepted on it (Thorpe Park, directions).

The Frankenstein train at Hanworth

For younger children, the Hampton Kempton Waterworks Railway runs Scream Up: Frankenstein! on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November: a ride out to Frankenstein’s Castle to see what Victor has been making in his laboratory. Advance booking only, £4.50 for children and £7.50 for adults (Hampton Kempton Waterworks Railway, 2026 events). The railway is on Snakey Lane, Hanworth, TW13 7ND, next to Kempton Steam Museum, which is closed for the whole of half term.

Not on this year

  • No council Halloween event has been announced. Spelthorne Borough Council’s news page carries nothing for Halloween 2026; in 2024 it ran its Halloween day jointly with Staines Market.
  • No pumpkin patch in Spelthorne itself. We found no farm in the borough selling pick-your-own pumpkins.

Getting about

The disco is on a Saturday, the busiest day for the town centre car parks; tariffs changed on 8 September 2026, so check parking in Staines. For road closures and works that week, see Staines roadworks and travel. Everything else on in the fortnight, including library shows and floodlit racing at Kempton, is on our October half term page.
