Surrey Police still want to find a woman asked to fetch a towel for first aiders after two men were hurt at a Vicarage Road, Sunbury home on 17 September.

Surrey Police are still trying to trace a woman who stopped to help after a stabbing at a house in Vicarage Road, Sunbury-on-Thames. She was passing the address on the afternoon of Thursday 17 September. People giving first aid asked her to fetch a towel.

The force calls her a significant witness. Its appeal was published on 19 September, and it was unchanged when we re-read it on 28 September.

What the police have said

Everything in this section comes from Surrey Police’s witness appeal.

  • Officers were called to Vicarage Road shortly after 2.30pm on Thursday 17 September.
  • The report was of a stabbing inside a residential address.
  • A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of affray.
  • He and a second man, in his 50s, were both taken to hospital with injuries consistent with a stabbing.
  • Vicarage Road was closed for a short time between Cavendish Road and The Rowans, and has since reopened.

The force has published nothing further since then. It has not updated the condition of either man, and it has announced no charge. An arrest on suspicion is not a charge, and nobody has been named.

The woman the police want to find

Surrey Police describe her as:

  • a White woman with brown hair
  • in her late 40s to early 50s
  • around 5ft 7in tall
  • wearing a purple fleecy jacket

The force says she was passing the address when she was asked to get a towel by those carrying out first aid. If that was you, or you think you know who she is, the police want to hear from you.

Anyone else who was there

The appeal also asks for anyone who was around Vicarage Road between 2.25pm and 2.35pm that afternoon and saw or heard anything. The force wants any CCTV, dashcam or helmet camera footage that may be relevant.

The stretch that was closed is residential, and it runs north from Sunbury Cross towards Kempton Park. Vicarage Road is a through route between Sunbury Cross and Hanworth.
