Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Last year Staines formed up at 10.15am by the Elmsleigh Centre; here are all seven Spelthorne services and road closures.
Remembrance Sunday 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, and Spelthorne holds seven separate services that morning: in Staines-upon-Thames, Ashford, Sunbury, Shepperton, Stanwell, Laleham and Littleton. Spelthorne Borough Council has not yet published this year’s times. Last year it did so on 16 October, and every service built up to the two minutes’ silence at 11am at its war memorial.
The quick answer
- Date: Sunday 8 November 2026. The Silence is at 11am at every memorial in the borough.
- Staines parade (2025 times): form up at 10.15am opposite the Elmsleigh Centre, march to Market Square at 10.40am, service at the war memorial at 10.50am.
- Roads close for about an hour, roughly 10.30 to 11.30am in Staines, Ashford and Shepperton. The 2026 times follow in mid-October.
What we know about 2026
Remembrance Sunday is always the second Sunday in November, which this year is 8 November. Armistice Day, 11 November, falls on the following Wednesday.
The council’s 2026 schedule is not out. For 2025 it published a single borough-wide notice, Remembrance Services, Sunday 9 November 2025, on 16 October 2025, with the road closure notices attached as PDFs. That page has since been taken down from the council’s site, so the link above is the Wayback Machine copy. Expect this year’s version in the middle of October.
Last year’s services, village by village
These are the 2025 times, from the council’s notice. The clergy and the councillors laying wreaths change from year to year, so we have left the names out. Treat the times as a guide until the 2026 notice appears.
| Where | Before 11am | After the Silence |
|---|---|---|
| Staines | 10.15am form up opposite the Elmsleigh Centre, High Street; 10.40am process to Market Square; 10.50am service at the war memorial | Wreaths at 11.02am, then the parade marches to the Memorial Gardens and is dismissed |
| Ashford | 10.45am assemble at Ashford War Memorial for a service led by the joint churches of Ashford | Wreaths at 11.02am |
| Sunbury | 10.15am groups form up in St Paul's School car park, The Ridings; 10.30am proceed to the war memorial; 10.50am short service | Wreaths at 11.02am |
| Shepperton | 10.45am assemble at Shepperton War Memorial; 10.50am short service | Wreaths at 11.02am |
| Stanwell | 10.50am parade, then Act of Remembrance at the war memorial | Wreaths at 11.02am; 11.10am service at St Mary's Parish Church |
| Laleham | 10am service at All Saints Parish Church; 10.50am assemble at the war memorial | Wreaths at 11.02am |
| Littleton | 10am service at St Mary Magdalene Church | Wreaths at 11.02am |
Stanwell is the one that runs the other way round: the parade and the Silence come first, and the church service follows at 11.10am. In Laleham and Littleton the church service comes first.
Road closures
The council closed roads in five places for the 2025 parades:
| Town | Closure window |
|---|---|
| Sunbury | 10.15am to 11.45am |
| Staines | 10.30am to 11.30am |
| Ashford | 10.30am to 11.30am |
| Shepperton | 10.30am to 11.30am |
| Laleham | 10.45am to 11.15am |
Sunbury has the longest closure because its parade forms up furthest from the memorial. The exact streets are listed in each town’s closure notice, which the council attaches to its announcement. If you are driving through Staines High Street or Sunbury on the Sunday morning, allow for the closure or park before 10am. Our parking in Staines page covers the town centre car parks, and our roadworks page carries anything else closing that weekend.
Other November dates nearby
- Saturday 7 November: the Kempton Park fireworks, the night before, so the Sunbury area is busy on both days.
- Sunday 22 November: the Staines Christmas parade and lights.
Still to be confirmed
- The 2026 service times, clergy and road closure notices. Spelthorne published them on 16 October last year. We will update this page when they appear.
- Armistice Day on Wednesday 11 November. The council’s 2025 notice covered the Sunday services only.
